Who We Are?

Our Mission

This website is dedicated to the genealogy, stories and photos related to our families – the Brahees and the Stombergs, as well as related families. Last names used to change each generation in Sweden so you will see a lot of Anderssons and Johansdotters, etc. These are our ancestors also!

We have included only individuals no longer living unless we have received written permission from a living person stating it is okay to include them.

The stories included were written by the compilers, based on public records, letters, and recollections of those still living during our research. I am sure there are many stories that should be included but were not because we did not have the record. Please contact us if you have additional information.  The beauty of a website is that it can be added to – and corrected.

We also dedicate this website to our grandparents, (Linus) Alvin Stomberg and Ada (Brahee) Stomberg and their children – our aunts and uncle – Charlotte Wiese, Edith Lundborg, Mildred Toso, Hildur Dyer and Eldor Stomberg.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This website has been compiled with the help of many people. We cannot mention all who have furnished photos, genealogy, and stories but we would like to acknowledge a few.

  • Marilyn Arlene (Peterson) Braun, who we accidentally met while in Minnesota. She not only put us in touch with our Swedish family but has helped in so many ways.
  • Viktoria Unosson, our cousin (4th) who shared her Swedish genealogy and is our ‘go to’ expert for anything Swedish.
  • Alice ‘Lisa’ (Unger) Emkovik, our cousin (2nd) who has shared many photos, cards, stories and more.
  • Randy Honebrink, our cousin (2nd, once removed) who has shared his countless hours of research.
  • Frank Pontillo, my husband’s cousin, and my favorite IT guru. Frank has made this website possible.
  • Gloria (Topping) Trotter, who graciously shared her father’s book of genealogy and then listened while we walked our dogs as I recounted my thought process and slow progress.
  • Eileen (Peterson) Gersic, Joan (Koehnen) Felt, Roger Toso, Doug Dyer, John Williams, Torbjorn Hojer, Wilma (Williams) Hall, Vivian (Stomberg) Gustner,  Emma (Nylander) Crowe, Bernice Mellgren, and Miriam Nylander.
  • And especially, Bill Hamelau and Forest Allen, who listened to us with grace and supported our work over these many years.
